there are some times, some special, deeply intimate times, when eyes transform and become portals, little peep holes into souls. sometimes, when the light hits just right and i'm at the right vantage point, i swear i can see into the sacred. like robert's grandma in the hospice bed. the split second her lids fluttered apart. or robert's. squinting up at me in the november sunshine, down on one knee.
the other day, it was pablo. riding in the car on my lap, sneaking peeks behind him at me in my dress. the way the wind was blowing his ears and how his wet nose felt against my wrist. and looking into those pupils i swear i felt God. He does come in unexpected ways sometimes, and a sunday car ride home with the windows down and twilight swirling seems like a pretty lovely place to make an appearance.

Amazing and touching as always. :)
i love those random moments where god just pops in. for me yesterday, it was seeing my boyfriend's adorable face at my door when he came to make me dinner during a busy schoolwork night. things like these make me so thankful for the beauty. and your writing does too :)
Oh such sweet, blissful moments.. I know the kind. My most vivid was on a visit to Mexico to see some relatives.. This was about 15 years ago...yet the memory still tingles and gives me the goosies.. I was sharing a large room with a blind elderly lady...frail, fragile, barely mobile... She didn't realize I was in the room.. And suddenly she started singing... Loud.. off key...unintelligible at times.. yet she was singing to the Lord...And I just started crying because it was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard...I know that my soul saw God in that moment.

What a beautiful moment! :)
beautifully written as always.
Beautiful moment with beautiful Pablo! "..... for it is in the little things that you may find God."
What a great moment. It always makes me so happy to watch my dogs faces with their heads out the window. Pure bliss.
This reminds me of the song "I saw God today" by George Strait. It is ALMOST as beautiful as your writing!
Pablo is a handsome man. I'm positive there's no pure happiness like a dog with his head out the window
I love how your words can make an event/feeling come alive. That was brilliant.
I can so relate, i just celebrated my pooch's bday yesterday!
he looks like our golden doodle we use to have! is he?
that last sentence simply blew me away.
your writing is just gorgeous. you recreate those little moments so beautifully.
have you read the book cold tangerines? if not, i think you should pick it up. :) this post reminded me of it a bit.
