a morning regret

my darling,

i'm sorry i didn't get up this morning to run the circle with you. it was 5:30 a.m. and i was tired down into my bones. and the aroma of crock-pot chicken was wafting through the cottage. and pablo was curled at my feet, making a warm spot with his breathing belly. and there was no place i wanted to be but tucked in those cotton sheets, the sun not yet risen. plus, you see, i've got these new bangs to maintain. and running would throw my morning routine off a bit, but i digress.

but then, about an hour later, i awoke. and sunlight was slowly rising behind the blinds. and i reached over to your side of the bed, still in that half dream state. for a second, i forgot where you were, and i was scared and sad until i went outside to find you leaning against the porch. and i'd stay awake forever to see those crinkly eyes.

you waved goodbye to me this morning still in your sweats. and i smiled the entire drive to work.

Remember...no regrets. Your body was telling you that you needed the extra sleep and Pablo was in no hurry to start the day either...and you still got the smile and the moment that made you smile all the way to work and most likely, for the rest of the day!

Love that comment that you have your new bangs to maintain. Hee Hee!! I'm sure Robert didn't mind you staying nice and snugly wrapped up with Pablo this morning. Lovely writing again my friend.

your husband is a champ for getting up so early and going for a run. I would have stayed in bed too.

I don't think I could have left Pablo either, if I were you ;)

I have tried morning exercise and have just decided it's not for me. It's not for everybody. Morningtime Katie is better off sleeping. Late-Afternoon/Pre-Dinner Katie is way better at exercise!

Have a great day, sweetie!

Bangs here are called a fringe. They're all the rage, but I remember my last move into them and the years of getting rid of them. Sometimes staying in bed is necessary, even if it means regret.

I can completely understand this feeling. it's a terrifying one, where you feel so unexpectedly anxious and sad... but when you come to your senses and realise they're safe, it's so beautiful to realise that you love another person so completely that their presence in the morningtimes makes you feel so happy and whole.

thank you for your comment on my blog. I absolutely love yours - you have a beautiful way with words!
